Dr. Michael Hiller is a Professor of Comparative Genomics currently leading a research group at the LOEWE Centre for Translational Biodiversity Genomics (TBG) at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Jena and University of Freiburg, Germany, and did postdoctoral work in the Department of Developmental Biology at Stanford University, and the Bioinformatics Group at the University of Freiburg. His lab works on differences between species to discover the genomic determinants of macroevolutionary trait differences. The lab’s current focus is on studying the genomic basis of vertebrate traits that have potential applications in biomedicine or other fields. Dr. Hiller’s contributions have been recognized with multiple grants and awards, including funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) for his work on decoding genotypic and phenotypic diversity among vertebrates.
